Hmmm. If it was really very close why wasn't there major turbulence from the helicopter rotors? Or are these drones just that good at maintaining position?

  All the turbulent rotor wash would be below and behind the rotor disc, as it is producing forward thrust and vertical lift. The helicopter pilots likely saw the drone, but probably not until the last instant.

I love how this story is about the drone. It might have been 10% too high. But the helicopter was clearly below the 500ft min for non UAS air craft that are not landing.
