Homemade Air Conditioner
The "5 Gallon Bucket" Air Cooler. It can also be solar powered. Items needed: bucket, styrofoam liner, pvc pipe, small fan, solar panel, and one frozen gallon jug of water. It lasted for 6 hours. Temperature in the house was 84F. Cooled air was in the mid. 40F range.

  Well, I would never expect it to work like an actual air conditioner, but it must cool the air a little

If your ice comes from an indoor freezer, this is dumb. Your freezer warms the room and then you're trying to remove that heat with the ice! duh! Also, adding humidity it just as bad as adding heat.

  I agree this is not a great idea, however they way he set it up it would not increase humidity as the ice was withing a sealed gallon milk jug, so the ice will melt within the jug without evaporating.

  Yeah, except the freezer is in the cellar, and the room I'm trying to cool is a bedroom on the second floor...
